Tata Steel Zoological Park
An ideal place for nature lovers, Tata Steel Zoological Park is located within the famous Jubilee Park. It was inaugurated on March 3, 1994, on Founder’s Day. The zoo covers an area of 25 hectares and is surrounded by a natural forest, beautiful lawns, and gardens. Established by the Tata Steel Zoological Society, this park is home to a wide variety of plants and animals.

The CZDA approved a new layout plan for the zoological park in July 2020. However, due to COVID, the implementation was delayed, and work began in 2022. It was inaugurated on January 4, 2023, by Tata Steel’s CEO and MD, TV Narendran. The zoo’s expansion was aimed at making it safer for animals, improving the environment, and attracting more visitors. Separate routes have been provided for visitors, along with parking facilities for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers, and a safe exit plan. The zoo also includes charging stations, a shop, changing/rest rooms for staff, an AV room, e-ticketing facilities, CCTV surveillance, and a souvenir e-cart. Additionally, a beautiful fountain park and a vegetarian exhibition have been set up.
The Tata Steel Zoological Society was established in 1991 by Tata Steel Limited. The park is home to several species of mammals, reptiles, and birds. Here, you can see species like wild cats, jackals, Bengal mongoose, fruit bats, common rats, and three-striped squirrels. Additionally, the zoological park houses around 30 bird species, including peacocks, hill mynas, special types of parrots, common coots, kingfishers, and magpie robins. The park also has various reptiles, such as pythons, king cobras, kraits, and garden lizards.
